With the advancement of medicine, science, and technology, the population structure of Taiwan has gradually deteriorated. Although the average life expectancy has been extended, various chronic diseases still occupy the top ten causes of death. Suppose we can better understand the lifestyle and environmental factors of the People, as well as the exact relationship between ethnicity and genetics, and try to change the dangerous behaviors of human beings. In that case, it will be beneficial to the health of the human being, prevent diseases, and make everyone excellent and good.
Taiwan’s human biological database combines living habits, environmental factors, clinical medicine, and biomarkers to establish a human bio-library dedicated to Taiwan, collecting huge bio-tests and health information for biomedical research, and providing domestic scholars.
Application for use; and the establishment of the Society, to join the advanced participation of all walks of life, in addition to guarding the basic ethics of research and database, but also in the inter-disciplinary integration, to create more research goals, to protect the future of human health.

The Center has been involved in the implementation of related projects since 2000. In addition to the research on the Ethical, Legal & Social Implications (ELSI), its cross-disciplinary attributes, the importance of the development of the biomedical industry, in addition to relevant research; it also assists the “Taiwan Human Biodatabase” in moving towards formal operation, and is mainly responsible for the evaluation of the establishment of the database, the planning and practice of the Academia Sinica Operation, providing corresponding ELSI research and consultation.

The Center cooperates with legal entities to implement national plans, and also participates in technology standards development.

With the development of information technology, how to realize the spirit of the law, reflect the normative value and open the market model of free competition, the law plays a role in integrating many values. The Center’s commitment is to promoting information Technology issues.

Through the promotion and application of research results, the center promotes the following matters:
(1) Through the implementation of the Academic Ethics Education Program of the Ministry of Education, improve the quality of Taiwan’s higher education and improve academic research results.
